This open-air pool (Gradski Bazen) is of Olympic size: 50 x 25 m. As the summers here are very hot, people are often turned away at the entrance: no more than 300 people at a time. Therefore, some of the young people go to cool off in the Neretva. Just below the pool is the sandy islet of Plaža Pijesak ("sandy beach"), a piece of paradise in the middle of the city center, sometimes dangerous because of the currents. As for the pool, it turns into a nightclub in the evening (every day 10pm-4am in summer, Thursday-Saturday off season).
