MOSTAR NATIONAL THEATER
Bosnia-Herzegovina's most modern theater, with a large auditorium used for the Mostarska Liska international festival.
This large, dilapidated building with faded, war-scarred yellow walls (Narodno Pozorište Mostar) was, however, the most modern theater in Bosnia-Herzegovina when it was founded in 1951. During the siege of the city (1993-1994), its 300-seat "big hall" housed families of refugees. Since 2004, it has been the setting for the international festival Mostarska Liska ("Mostar Fox"), in which troupes from the former Yugoslavia participate for a month in October.
