MOSTAR CLOCK TOWER
A 16-meter-high clock tower on a sloping street, with bells to signal Muslim prayer times.
Located on a sloping street, this early 17th century tower (Sahat Kula) cannot compete with the huge bell tower of the Peace of the Franciscan monastery in West Mostar. However, its 16-meter high bells indicating the time of prayers to the Muslims could be heard for three kilometers around. These were transformed into cannons by the Austro-Hungarian army in 1917. As for the neighboring house of the muvekit (clockmaker and astronomer), it has been in ruins since the last war.
