MILLENNIUM CROSS
A 33 m-high reinforced concrete Catholic cross decorated with the Croatian coat of arms stands atop Hum Hill.
This reinforced concrete Catholic cross (Milenijski Križ) stands atop the Hum hill (392 m above sea level) overlooking Mostar-West to the south. Standing 33 m high (in reference to the Christian age) and adorned with the Croatian coat of arms, it was erected in 2000 to mark the two millennia since the birth of Christ. Like the Campanile de la Paix, it is perceived as a provocation by Mostar's non-Catholic inhabitants. In any case, the site offers a magnificent view of the city and the region, with Mount Velež to the east and Mount Prenj to the northeast.
