RUE DU MARÉCHAL-TITO
Street named in honor of the leader of socialist Yugoslavia, which still runs alongside many ruined buildings.
Named in honor of the leader of socialist Yugoslavia since 1950, this street (Ulica Maršala Tita) is the major axis of Mostar-Est. Particularly targeted by the bombings between 1992 and 1994, it still runs alongside many ruined buildings. This is particularly the case of the former high school for girls located just behind the Old Bridge, opposite the Ćejvan-Ćehaja mosque. Dating from the Austro-Hungarian period, this long stone building of three levels, which once housed the town hall, is now only a skeleton held up by wooden props.
