MOSQUE OF THE EMPEROR OF BLAGAJ
Mosque with 20 m-high minaret dedicated to Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and preserving part of its original interior decor.
With a minaret of 20 m high, this mosque (Careva Džamija) is dedicated to Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. When it was built in 1519-1520, it was covered with a large dome that was considered the most beautiful mosque in Herzegovina. But the dome collapsed and was replaced in 1891 by the current small octagonal dome. The building was however little affected by the bombings of 1992-1993 and retains some of its original decor inside.
