MOSQUE ŠARIĆ
Elegant little mosque with garden, 15 m-high minaret and wide lauze roof, replica of the mosque destroyed in 1993.
This elegant little mosque (Džamija Ismail Kapetana Šarića) is distinguished by its shady garden and wide slate roof covering the porch. It is the 2004 replica of the mosque destroyed in 1993. Almost square (10.2 x 10.3 m) and with a 15-meter-high minaret made of tenelija (the same stone as the Old Bridge in Mostar), this one was built in 1740 thanks to a donation from the influential Šarić family, whose house can be found near the Čaršija mosque. It was the center of a religious and commercial complex that has now disappeared.
