PODGRADSKA MOSQUE
Mosque with small minaret, under the former upper town of the fortress, replica of the old mosque destroyed in 1993.
The "mosque under the city" (Podgradska Džamija) owes its name to its location, under the former upper city of the fortress. It is the 2010 replica of the old mosque destroyed in 1993. This one dated from 1812/1813 and had the particularity of having been designed to house stores under its arcades of the first floor. As a result, the building, with an almost square base (9,4 x 9,7 m), is rather high (about 8,5 m) and its minaret seems small (12 m high). A little further on, the Podgradska Bridge (26.50 m long) probably dates from the 18th century.
