MONUMENT DES DÉFENSEURS DE TREBINJE
Monument honoring the memory of the 258 Bosnian-Serb soldiers and militiamen from the town who died between 1991 and 1996.
Erected in 2011, this monument (Spomenik Braniocima Trebinja/Споменик Браниоцима Требиња) honors the memory of the 258 Bosnian Serb soldiers and militiamen from the town who died between 1991 and 1996. Organized around a tall stylized sword, it is very misnamed: the city was never attacked during this period and it was instead the Bosnian Serb soldiers and militiamen from Trebinje who spread death and destruction from Dubrovnik, in October 1991, to Sarajevo, in January 1996.
