FORTERESSE DE KLOBUK

This ancient Byzantine fortified town (Stari Grad Klobuk/Стари Град Клобук) guards the Montenegrin border at 856 m above sea level. In 1807, Ottoman troops were besieged there by a Russian-Montenegrin contingent. The encirclement was broken by the French troops of General Jean Aulay de Launay from Dubrovnik. The fortress was finally destroyed by the Austro-Hungarians in 1878, when it was occupied by Serbian rebels. It is in these ruins that Emir Kusturica shot a large part of his film On the Milky Road (2017) with Monica Belluci.
