MONASTÈRE DE DOBRUNSKA
Serbian Orthodox monastery on the site of Draža Mihailović's arrest, with a statue of him inside.
Founded in 2009 and dedicated to St. Nicholas, this Serbian Orthodox monastery (Manastir Dobrunska/Манастир Дражевина) is one of the highlights of Serbian nationalism. It is installed at the site of the arrest, on March 13, 1946, of Draža Mihailović (1893-1946), leader of the Chetniks during World War II. Tried and executed in Belgrade on July 17, 1946 for collaboration with the Nazis, Mihailović was the tutelary figure of Serbian extremists during the Yugoslav wars (1991-2001). A statue of him is installed inside the monastery.
