ÉGLISE DE LA PROTECTION-DE-LA-MÈRE-DE-DIEU
Restored Serbian Orthodox church with bulbous bell tower housing a relic of Serbian king Stefan Lazarević.
Dating from 1903, this Serbian Orthodox church (Crkva Pokrova Presvete Bogorodice/Црква Покрова Пресвете Богородице) is distinguished by its bulbous bell tower. It is dedicated to the shroud(pokrov) of Mary, which, according to Russian tradition, provides protection for Christians since a miracle in Constantinople in the 10th century. Damaged by the Ustasha in 1943 and by Bosnian forces in 1992, it was restored in 2003. It houses a relic of the Serbian king Stefan Lazarević (1374-1427).
