TOMB OF SAFIKADUNA
Tomb and place of devotion with black marble plaques telling the story of a little girl who fell victim to impossible love.
This place of devotion (Safikadin Grob/Сафикадин Гроб) was spared during the 1993 destruction. According to tradition, it is here that the granddaughter of Ferhat Pasha Sokolović rests. The "grave", a kind of planter made of white painted rubble, is marked by black marble plaques telling the story: Safikaduna is said to have been the victim of an impossible love with a soldier of the Kastel fortress and committed suicide there. Since the 18th century, people of all faiths have come here to place a candle in the hope that love will manifest itself.
