VILLAGE DE PRUSAC
The pretty village of Prusac retains a significant Ottoman-era heritage, including mosques and an clock tower.
The pretty village of Prusac (pronounced "proussats") has about 1,200 inhabitants, all Bosnians. A major hotbed of Bosnian Sufism along with neighboring Ajvatovica, it retains an important Ottoman-era heritage, including the Hasan Kjafija (1607), Handanija (1617)-which is the most elegant-and Malkoč Alaj-bey (1828) mosques, as well as an eighteenth-century clock tower set on the ruins of the medieval fortress overlooking the village. All the Islamic monuments were damaged during the last war and renovated since then.
