MONASTÈRE SAINTS-PIERRE-ET-PAUL
Catholic convent with modernist architecture, a luminous avant-garde church and a belfry housing an art gallery.
Completed in 1986, this Catholic convent of the Franciscan order (Samostan Sveti Petra i Pavla) displays modernist architecture with its bright avant-garde church and unstructured belfry. It was built on the site of a previous 19th-century monastery damaged by the collapse of a salt mine. Housing an art gallery, the complex is the work of Bosnian architect Zlatko Ugljen, born in Mostar in 1929, who is responsible for the White Mosque in Visoko.
