MOSQUÉE DŽINDIĆ
An old adobe and wooden mosque, with a minaret and wooden roof, featuring a very simple interior with sixteen windows.
Featuring a minaret and a wooden roof, this old mosque (Džindijska Džamija) is also known as Husein Čauševa Džamija. It was founded around 1590 by Mustafa Džindić, son of Gazi Turali-bey, the first Ottoman governor of Tuzla in 1563, and was restored by his cousin Husein Čauš in the 17th century. Built of adobe and wood, it forms a square of 7 m on each side with a very simple interior pierced by sixteen windows. It was the center of the Džindić neighborhood, which partly disappeared due to the collapse of the salt mines.
