PLACE DE LA LIBERTÉ
Pedestrian esplanade with large fountain and open-air performance space, plus numerous cafés and restaurants.
With its 7,000m2, this pedestrian esplanade (Trg Slobode) is the largest public square in the country. This is where the most important events and activities of the city take place. The square is furnished with a large fountain, an open-air performance space and numerous cafes and restaurants. On the south side, it is dominated by the Barok, a building dating from 2009 that is a replica of a large Austro-Hungarian building erected on this site in 1914 and destroyed in 1983. Beyond it is the large covered market, open daily from 7am.
