SALT PLACE
A square marked by the memory of underground salt mining since Neolithic times, home to the town's tourist office.
The historical center of Tuzla, this square (Solni Trg) is marked by the memory of the underground salt exploitation attested here since the Neolithic period, not only by its name, but also by its architecture. Indeed, the galleries dug under the city caused the collapse of the square in 1997. Today, surrounded by buildings without charm, it houses the tourist office of the city. 50 m to the north-east, on the Kapija square, a plaque is installed at the site of the "Tuzla massacre": 71 inhabitants killed by a Bosnian-Serb bombing on May 25, 1995.
