BRČKO CITY HALL
Neo-Moorish building located in a small square named after the American diplomat Roberts Bishop Owen.
Brčko's landmark monument, this neo-Moorish building (Gradska Vijećnica) was erected in 1892. If it evokes the old town hall of Sarajevo, it is because it was designed by the same architects: the Czech Alexander Wittek and the Croatian Ćiril Iveković. The entrance is located on a small square renamed after the American diplomat Roberts Bishop Owen (1926-2016). It was thanks to him that the autonomous entity of the Brčko District was established in 2000 under the auspices of the UN. Right next door are the Grand Hotel Posavina and the Youth Square.
