BRIDGE OF THE SAVE
Former railway bridge converted to a road bridge in 1974, 755 m long and supported by six piers, with a border crossing.
755 m long and supported by six piers, this metal structure (Savski Most) connects Brčko to Croatia by spanning the Sava River. Built by the Austro-Hungarians in 1893, it is a former railway bridge transformed into a road bridge in 1974. It was sabotaged twice during the Second World War and again in 1992. Reopened to traffic since 2000, it has a border crossing. Opposite, the town of Gunja (about 3,000 inhabitants, 30% of them Bosnians) is uninteresting and only a small road leads to the beautiful Croatian region of Slavonia.
