ST. ANTONIUS-PADUA CHURCH IN BIHAĆ
Ruined Catholic church with a 35 m-high bell tower in good condition, but no bells.
Dating from 1891, this Catholic church (Crkva Svetog Ante Padovanskog) remains in ruins since an Allied bombing in 1943. Its bell tower of about 35 m height remains in good condition but its bells were removed in 1960. It was deliberately left that way, as a reminder of the responsibility of the local Catholic clergy during the massacres committed by the Ustasha and some Bosnian-Croat inhabitants in 1941. Another church of the same name was erected in 1977 away from the center.
