CAPTAIN'S TOWER
An almost perfect square tower, 25 m high, now housing a small museum on the history of the Una-Sana canton.
A symbol of Bihać, this tower (Kapetanova Kula) displays a height of 25 m and forms an almost perfect square of 10 m on each side at its base. It could have been built by the Croats in the 13th century or by the Ottomans in the 17th century. In any case, the latter used it as a residence for the captain of the 700-strong garrison in 1789. It is also the last remaining building of the city walls, knocked down in 1890. Used as a prison until 1959, the tower now houses a small museum on the history of the canton of Una-Sana.
