Animal park with a large population of primates: drill, gorilla, chimpanzee, mone, mangabey and many others.
In the center of Limbé, opposite the botanical garden, the Wild Life Center de Limbé is not what you'd call a zoo, even though it welcomes visitors daily for a modest entrance fee. Its missions are multiple. One of them is to raise awareness among the province's younger generations of the need to protect their environment, and in particular certain animal species that are highly endangered in the region. With few resources at his disposal, he also takes in injured or abandoned wild animals. While you may come across an antelope, a Nile crocodile common to all of Africa except its desert regions, or a Gabonese viper (highly venomous), the main attraction of Limbé Wild Life lies in its large primate population. Almost every species living in Cameroon is represented. From enclosure to enclosure, you'll meet the drill, the gorilla, the chimpanzee, the mone, the mangabe, the red-eared mustaka... With the growing influx of baby monkeys, the center has had to equip itself with a nursery. Here, orphaned gorillas and chimpanzees whose parents have fallen victim to poachers are bottle-fed. Being able to care for and interact with the baby apes is an impactful experience that leaves visitors inspired. The visit is well signposted and pleasant, and in front of each enclosure and cage you'll find a small explanatory panel.
