BANDJOUN STATION MUSEUM, AT BARTHÉLÉMY TOGUO'S HOUSE
Museum founded by Barthélémy Toguo in Bandjoun containing ancient sculptures from several African countries.
A true artistic adventure, Bandjoun Station is a contemporary art center founded by internationally renowned Cameroonian visual artist Barthélémy Toguo. The art center and residential studio are supported by solid reinforced concrete pillars. The structure is topped by an 11 m-high gable and covered by a double-pyramid roof structure that respects the age-old rules of traditional local architecture with its tapered roofs.
The first floor is a media library: a reading room and library, a store where you can take away souvenirs (Bandjoun Station stamped coffee cups, coffee produced by Bandjoun Station, Ndop shirts in a variety of designs, catalogs of the various exhibitions held at Bandjoun Station, by Barthélémy Toguo and those of major international meetings) and a few works of art. Levels 1 and 2 are temporary exhibition rooms. The third level houses the permanent exhibition, featuring works resulting from exchanges with artists from around the world, with the aim of avoiding the pitfalls of the "African art ghetto". It also features a number of ancient sculptures from several African countries. To date, Bandjoun Station has held six international "in" exhibitions and several "hors les murs" events, including participation in international meetings in Senegal, Denmark, Paris, London...
