SNSM SAINT-MARTIN
The SNSM (Société Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer) Station of Saint-Martin has existed since 2001. Its role is to assist sailors in difficulty. It is a very active station with 50 to 60 rescue missions per year. In case of an emergency, the launch leaves with its crew 15 minutes at the most after the alert and the intervention zone extends up to 50 nautical miles from Saint-Martin. The crew members go out in all weathers (except during the passage of a cyclone) and the interventions generally take place at night and in sometimes difficult weather conditions.
