This church, like the one in Grand-Case, was built in 1841 under the aegis of Father Wall, the island's first parish priest, appointed in 1835. Until then, the Protestant religion was in the majority. Building materials were stone and lime. Extensions (like the presbytery) were built in 1871 and 1872. As for the small chapel, it underwent total renovation as part of a training program supervised by Compagnons du Tour de France.
