Tribute to Victor Schoelcher and various events in the village of Grand-Case.
Grand-Case's traditional Saint Victor's Day commemorates Victor Schoelcher (born July 22, 1804). The day kicks off with an official tribute to the politician who worked for the abolition of slavery: an ecumenical ceremony at the Grand-Case Catholic church, a parade and speeches, then the festivities continue in the village with musical entertainment, sports races and traditional games, before concluding in the evening with a fireworks display in the bay.
