ALEA
It has to be found, this all-in-one boutique is well hidden on rue Arcisse de Caumont and yet… it deserves to be known! If you don’t have a gift idea, or just want to treat yourself, you can be sure there will be something here that you will enjoy. The two rooms are connected by a corridor and you can travel from one continent to another, exploring objects from different cultures, all crafted and designed in a noble way: Africa, Asia, South America or Europe, even though the Asian influence is predominant. In this case, Luc presents the Gokan kôbô collection, artisanal glazed porcelain, designed by Kenzo… magnificent! There are items for all budgets, from a knife at €1.50 to a frame at €162, including a chandelier at €29. Of course, the designer pieces are a bit more expensive, but you have to know what you want. Don’t miss the jewellery, most of which comes from Colombia and is part of fair trade: an orange necklace, another one made of tagua (vegetable ivory) or horn… The owner of the shop may not be very smiley, but don’t hesitate to ask him questions, he will know how to lighten up and your visit will turn out to be very informative.
