LA TOUR SOLIDOR
Chess players have been meeting there for a long time. The photos of customers taken during special evenings are displayed on the walls, offering the chance to spot familiar faces (sometimes). Despite changes in ownership, the retro decor has remained unchanged for at least ten years (one can take a step back…) and evokes the Paris of the 1900s, reminiscent of Toulouse Lautrec and Aristide Briand, with its vintage (Black Cat) posters, large mirrors, and elegant art deco lamps. A library corner has been set up with some books, not far from a poster featuring the three greats (Ferré, Brassens, and Brel). Black and white photos by Doisneau complete the ambiance. The music is never too loud, allowing for conversation. There is a spacious terrace for smokers or sun lovers (which is a rare occurrence in Caen, but it happens).
