CASA D'ITALIA

A must-visit Italian address much appreciated by Tangiers residents and visitors (anonymous or VIP).
It's impossible not to sit on the terrace of this Tangier institution. Before being an Italian restaurant, it is an unchanging meeting place like the Café de Flore in Paris or the Reggio in New York. You have to come on Sunday evening like the regulars. They know that you don't come to Casa d'Italia for the food, but for the atmosphere, the atmosphere of suspended time. They know to order the garlic pasta or the chipirones. The Palace of Italian Institutions, of which the restaurant occupies a small part, hosts the Tanjazz festival in the fall.
