The Grand Socco is the traditional Moroccan market par excellence. On this vast square overlooking the medina of Tangier, fruit and vegetable sellers, spices and local crafts rub shoulders with café terraces, the mythical Rif cinema and the Sidi Bouabiid mosque. The Tangierese meet here to do their daily market, to remake the world, to take news. You can see women in colourful outfits wearing large traditional hats, men in burnous and babouches, scents and colours that form the soul of Morocco.
