SIDI BOU ABID MOSQUE
Sidi Bou Socco Abid mosque in Tangier, with stone arches and an imposing main door opening onto the square.
Standing at the end of the Grand Socco square, the Sidi Bou Abid mosque can be seen from afar. Its superb minaret in polychrome earthenware serves as a landmark in this part of the city. Built in 1917 in memory of Sidi Bou Abid buried here, the mosque, reserved for worship, is not visited. You can however admire its exteriors. The stone arches are detached from the surrounding wall of the building to form a gallery sheltered under a roof of glazed tiles. Its imposing main door opens onto the square. It is surmounted by a large clock.
