The Arena of Tangier classified as a historical monument, one of the legacies left by the Spanish colonization
Since the 1990s, this legacy of the Spanish presence had been abandoned. The bullfights and shows once held here were a distant memory. An architectural competition launched in 2021 has enabled this listed Hispano-Moorish building to begin its renovation. The renovation work will last several months. Eventually, 7,000 spectators will be able to take their seats in the arena for circus, theater and concert performances. An exhibition and shopping area will be built around the arena.
