BAB MARSHAN DOOR
The restored Bab Mrashan Gate, on Tabor Square, features medieval-style arches and arches
This door which gives onto the Tabor square is the oldest in the city and was for a long time the only door separating the Kasbah district and the Marshan. Restored, it is formed of ogives and arches with medieval appearance. It dates from the 15th century, during the Portuguese period. Its first particularity is to have two names: Bab Marshan when you are on the Kasbah side and Bab el-Kasbah on the Marshan side. One notices that the old cannons that surround it are pointed towards Marshan, where the Portuguese had established their camp.
