DAR EL-BAROUD STREET
Rue Dar El-Baroud with preserved cannons, bordered by ancient terraced bastions overlooking the port and old customs house
This is the street leading to the Continental Hotel. The latter was visited by illustrious guests such as Churchill or the Duke of Edinburgh whose arms still adorn the reception hall. Dar El-Baroud, which was a place of arms, has kept its cannons. The Borj Dar El Baroud was the first military fortification erected to defend the city. The street is lined with old terraced bastions overlooking the port and the old customs house. The Bab Marsa square, one of the main accesses to the city, was the seat of a bustling international trade.
