ASSEMBLY HALL
Palace of the Assembly with an imperial staircase decorated with ceramics of Portuguese influence, with paintings and sculptures
The Ceuta Town Hall was built from 1914 onwards on the site of the former Casas consistoriales (town hall). It was inaugurated in 1927 by King Alfonso XIII of Spain and his wife Victoria Eugenia. Inside, the imperial staircase decorated with Portuguese-influenced ceramics, the French-inspired throne room, the Renaissance-style session room and the imperial-style rotunda decorated with paintings by Mariano Bertuchi Nieto and sculptures by Candido Mata Cañamaque are worth a close look.
