KASBAH SIDI AL-MANDRI
A monument of medieval times in Tetouan, which allowed to control all the comings and goings of the medina towards the countryside
This medieval monument was rebuilt in the 15th century by the Grenadin Sidi al-Mandari. This warrior from Ibn al-Ahmar's army used Christians captured during his expeditions against Sebta (Ceuta) to build this fortress. Of the original kasbah, only the outer walls and bastions remain today. It allowed to control all the comings and goings of the medina towards the countryside and to see the enemies arriving from far. The observer sat at the top of the tower. In addition to the castle, the kasbah included a mosque and a house.
