BAB OKLA
Bab Okla one of the seven doors cut in the ramparts surrounding the medina of Tetouan, the most recent, with a fountain
Bab Okla is one of the 7 doors cut in the ramparts that surround the medina of Tetouan. It is also the most recent. It was built around the middle of the 16th century and is now located opposite the School of Arts and Crafts, east of the old city. A fountain just inside the gate has beautiful tiles typical of Tetouan and 18th century inscriptions praising the city's pasha of the time. Bab Okla was for a long time called "the gate of the sea", because it opened on the road to Martil.
