Tanneries in the medina with 2 L-shaped open-air entrances, ensuring the continuity of an age-old craft tradition
Established in the north of the medina, in the 16th century, and adjacent to its walls, the tanneries ensure the continuity of a very old artisanal tradition. Less known and smaller than those in Fez, they are nevertheless interesting to discover the manufacturing process. This open-air, L-shaped space has two access points. The first, which overlooks the artisanal district, facilitates delivery to the adjoining workshops; the second, which opens on the Bab al-Kebir door, allows farmers to transport the raw material directly to the tanners.
