SPANISH MOSQUE BUZAFAR
A mosque overlooking Chefchaouen and its surroundings, located atop a hill, the view from the terrace is striking
This 15th century mosque dominates Chefchaouen and its surroundings. It was built by the Spaniards during their occupation of the Rif Valley. Located at the top of a hill, it was quickly abandoned. Long left in a state of ruin, the prayer room has been fully restored. The mihrab has been rebuilt, the door and windows in pure Arab-Muslim style rebuilt in clay bricks left visible. The view from the terrace is breathtaking.
