MAAMORA FOREST
Visit to discover a remarkable forest of cork oaks, the largest in the Mediterranean, in Kenitra.
Located on the road to Kenitra, northeast of Rabat, the Maâmora subera is considered the largest cork oak forest in the Mediterranean region, covering a total area of 134,000 hectares. Half of it is covered by this species, which is prized for its bark, and it is also populated by eucalyptus, pine and acacia trees. In terms of fauna, it is home to nearly 20 species of mammals, such as the shrew and the mongoose, and about 70 species of birds, including the European roller and the golden eagle. A real breath of fresh air!
