Medieval university with a beautiful door and cells giving an idea of the ancient monastic life in Salé.
The construction of this medieval «university» was ordered by the Mérinide Abou el-Hassan in 1333. The beautiful stone door surmounted by cedar opens onto a rectangular room richly decorated and opened on the sky. Zelliges on the walls of paintings on cedar wood, through the stucco retraçant of Koranic verses, the room is decorated from all sides, from bottom to top. A real pleasure of eyes. On the floors, tiny cells give an idea of the monastic life to which the richest and brightest children of the th century spent ten years of their lives. On the roof (accessible or not according to the guard's mood), a panoramic view of the Salé Medina, its constellation of parabolic dishes and offers a remarkable landscape on Rabat, the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum Mohammed V.
Outline the mederasa and turn right on Sidi Abdallah ben Hassoun street. We go to the marabout Sidi Abdallah ben Hassoun. Non-Muslims cannot enter this place of worship. It is possible to look through the window and observe the richness of the tomb decoration on which many candles are buried. Continue straight away. You pass through two marabouts and, at the bottom of a field, you find North-West Borj. The pottery museum is without interest, but on the floor the view over Rabat and Salé is great.
