Remains of the Ma el Aïnin mosque, with some twenty pillars, right next to the zaouïa, becoming a citadel of freedom
Just next to the zaouïa are the remains of this mosque which was never finished. Initially, it was supposed to have 81 pillars, but only about twenty of them remain and each rainfall damages this building. It is a real pity because the pillars and the arches that have resisted time are beautiful. For the locals, this building is a symbol of the singularity of the city, having resisted for years to the French invasion attempts, and to the Spanish yoke. Over time, the place has become "the citadel of freedom".
