EL-MANSOUR EDDAHBI DAM
El Mansour dam, 70 metres high, giving rise to the lake of the same name and becoming an important site for many species
Built in 1971, the El Mansour dam is a benchmark in hydraulic engineering. At 70 m high, it holds back 560 million cubic metres of water, controlling the flow of the country's longest river, the Drâa. Its function is to regulate the distribution of water, thus improving the irrigation of local plots. The dam has given rise to the eponymous lake, which has become an important site for numerous species such as the grey heron, the crested heron, the fennec and the otter.
