HARA POTTERY

Poteries de Hara, offering an interesting visit to discover the artisanal manufacture of tagine dishes, ashtrays and trays.
It is here that much of the pottery for sale in the region is made (tagine dishes, ashtrays, trays...). The village itself is magnificent. The houses, built in adobe or painted in colors ranging from red to ochre, are splendid, the alleyways are narrow, children play in the streets and tourists are virtually absent. An atmosphere of calm and serenity reigns here, and care must be taken not to disturb it. The village is criss-crossed by irrigation canals that serve a multitude of small plots where barley, alfalfa, corn and wheat are grown. They take on fluorescent hues in the late afternoons before the harvest. Tall date palms dot the landscape everywhere. A visit to the pottery is an interesting experience: it's a family affair in which everyone has a precise role to play, and every step must be scrupulously respected. There are no lathes or electric kilns; you have to pedal to shape the clay, before firing it in an earthen kiln at the bottom of the garden. Likewise, the clay is carefully prepared and filtered before being put to rest in a small basin next to the towers. There is no real store, and all production is bought by Marrakech merchants, after being painted and decorated by one of the local families. A unique, authentic and original experience... You must return to Tinghir before nightfall, as you risk getting lost at night in the middle of the palm grove.
