Visit the old cabash in M'Hamid, used to control camel caravans heading for Timbuktu
You can visit the ruins of this ancient kasbah built in the 14th century to control the merchant caravans leaving for Timbuktu. Even if the building is dismantled, it is impressive to stop there and think about the economic power of the region in those times. The Saadian era was a period of prosperity for M'Hamid and the routes of the long camel caravans stretched across the Sahara, all the way to Sudan! What to relativize and to have a short vertiginous jump in the time...

I can recommend contact the agency Caravan Fox of the Desert, they are located Me Hamid, last village oasis valley Draâ, I part with them in April in the desert and it was fabulous, unforgettable! but I know that they also organize treks in the valleys and Atlas what is preferable during the summer months because of the heat. Lahbib and Mohamed are lovely, serious, very helpful and honour in the meaning of the hospitality of the Moroccan people.
