Bayt al Dakira or House of Memory is the new name of the Simon Attias synagogue. This symbolic place aims to become a major historical research center dedicated to inter-religious dialogue, in addition to its museum functions. Through documentary resources, it bears witness to the centuries-old presence and destiny of the Jewish populations and their benevolent coexistence with the Muslims of Essaouira. The vast 19th-century synagogue was renovated a few years ago and is now open to the public: Shalom Aleikum!
