PURPURARY ISLANDS
A set of islets protecting the city of Essaouira from the swell, a few blocks from the port.
This refers to the group of islets (including the island of Mogador and that of the Pharaoh) protecting the city from the swell, a few cables from the port. You can access most of them by asking the fishermen in the harbour to take you there. But visitors are rare, as the pass is dangerous for boats and the show, once there, is relatively small: apart from the birds, you won't find much there. According to legend, the Berbers of Diabat took their bulls or sheep to sacrifice them on the islets!
