ASSOCIATION MÉDINA
Born in 2001 on Elsa Durando's main initiative, the Medina Association aims to provide support for abandoned children placed in paediatrics at Sidi Hussain de Ouarzazate hospital and, if necessary, to provide surgery in France for more serious cases. Medina has financed four treatment rooms, one in Sidi Flah, a village of 1 000 inhabitants located 70 km from Ouarzazate, and the drilling of a well in another village. The Medina conceives its action only in partnership with local associations. Thanks to the subsidies received, Medina provided construction, equipment for medical equipment and training of volunteers through the Red Crescent. Consultations are held with Moroccan and French doctors, welcoming between 150 and 200 patients per day. All good will to be taken into account, annual membership in Medina is 20 €.
