DAR AL ALA, HOUSE OF ANDALUSIAN MUSIC
As Casablanca is not an ancient city, it has no cultural connection in itself with Andalusian culture. On the other hand, its population consists of many Moroccans from Fez, Rabat, Tetouan and Tangier. This is why, under the guidance of several passionate fans who wish to share their passion, a house of Andalusian music has just been born in the middle of the Habous, in a traditional habitat, formerly owned by a large Berber family. The hotel has been renovated with an additional floor and a glass roof that brings the light of the day between the walls of the building. The beautiful cedar doors have been pickled to highlight their meticulous work of sculpture. In the instruments room, you discover the vièle, the Italian mandolin, the-string Andalusian lute and the five-string eastern lute as well as the traditional percussions used in this music. Between the instruments, a reproduction of Delacroix's table was slipped. It is the Jewish Wedding in Tangiers, done in 1830. As human representations are forbidden in Islamic culture, this painting accurately portrays a formation of Andalusian music played an important transmission role for research on this scholarly music. Original manuscripts of the th century transcribe andalous poems sung in Hebrew. The association that has existed since 1958 organizes six large musical evenings per year. The musicians of the Casablancaise association also play regularly in this beautiful house.
